Keith Jefferson, the actor of "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood" dies at the age of 53

The American actor, Keith Jefferson, known for his roles in the films "Django Unchained", "The Hateful Eight" and "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood" directed by Quentin Tarantino, died at the age of 53.

Jefferson died Thursday, said his representative Nicole St. John for the Hollywood Reporter.

In August he announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

"When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I had to stop, take a break, and I didn't want to share it with anyone," Jefferson previously stated on Instagram.

The actor's death was unexpected, and came just two months after he took to Instagram to reveal his cancer diagnosis.

This gap between his announcement and his death shows the aggressive nature of his disease, a battle he fought privately.
