Formula 1 / In Qatar on Sunday, the World Champion will be announced, here are the combinations

In Qatar, the final race of the season will decide the drivers' world championship. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with McLaren and Max Verstappen with Red Bull are the three candidates for the title. Briton Norris leads the standings with 408 points, Dutchman Verstappen is second with 12 points less, while Australian Piastri has 16 points less than his teammate.

Norris becomes champion if:

Finishes on the podium
Finishes fourth and Verstappen does not win
Finishes fifth and Verstappen does not win
Finishes sixth and neither Verstappen nor Piastri win
Finishes seventh and neither Verstappen nor Piastri win
Finishes eighth, Verstappen in third or lower, and Piastri does not win
Finishes ninth, Verstappen off the podium and Piastri does not win
Finishes tenth, Verstappen not on the podium and Piastri third or lower
Finishes outside the points, Verstappen fourth or lower and Piastri third or lower.

Verstappen becomes champion if:

Wins and Norris finishes fourth or lower
Finishes second, Norris eighth or lower and Piastri does not win
Finishes third, Norris ninth or lower and Piastri does not win
Piastri becomes champion if:

Wins and Norris sixth or lower
Finishes second, Norris tenth or lower and Verstappen fourth or lower

In case of a tie:

If Norris, Piastri and Verstappen finish with the same number of points, a "countback" system will be used to decide the champion, which is first compared to the number of wins. Currently, the three have 7 wins each. Then the number of second positions is checked, with Norris having 8, Verstappen 5 and Piastri 3. So, in the event of a tie, the title will go to the current World Championship leader, Lando Norris.
