Juventus-Paphos, Zhegrova starts, it hasn't happened since December 2024

Unless something extraordinary happens, Edon Zhegrova will start in tonight's match between Juventus and Pafos in the Champions League.

It was coach Spalletti himself who confirmed his decision at the press conference, declaring that the match against the Cypriots is the right moment to put the Kosovo national team striker on the field from the first minute, for the first time for him in the black and white shirt.  Up to this point, Zhegrova has played a total of 100 minutes, all of them coming on as substitutes in 8 matches; his 'record' is the 26 minutes played in the match against Atalanta, after which he has not played more than 18 minutes. 

Due to an adductor problem, Zhegrova was out of action for the entire second half of last season and only arrived at Juventus on the last day of the transfer window and not in the best physical condition. For this reason, Tudor at first and Spalletti later did not want to take any risks with him   and this Wednesday evening he could return to the starting line-up a year after the last time. In fact, last season, Zhegrova played his last match as a starter, on December 14, 2024 in Ligue 1 in the match against Olympique Marseille and only stayed on the field for the first 45 minutes. 

After this moment, only 100 minutes of activation with Juventus and none as a starter. If in the match with Pafos, Zhegrova will give important answers, Spalletti may decide to fully trust him with the Dardanian striker who can 'threaten' Conceiçao's place. Moreover, in November 2024, Edon Zhegrova became the protagonist with his assist to Jonathan David in the Champions League match between Lille and Juventus, in his last match as a starter in the European arena. Now he has the opportunity to ignite Juventus with his actions on the field and at the same time help Jonathan David, just like in the Lille times.
