Rafael Varane reveals the reason why he left Real Madrid in 2021

Rafael Varane recently quit football due to injuries.

A few months after retiring from playing football, Varane spoke with his Real Madrid compatriot, Tchuameni, on the Madrid player's podcast about his sporting life.

In this conversation he explained his departure from Real Madrid in 2021.

"You don't wake up in the morning and think about leaving Madrid," the Frenchman began, confessing that it was in 2018 when he started thinking about leaving Real.

"When we were celebrating our fourth Champions League, it was just like that. It was normal. You win the Champions League and now they're looking for another one.

"You have to go for another one ," he said, adding that "then I won the World Cup and I had done it all. I had achieved it all."

"I reached a point in my life where I had to rethink my career and see how I should feel."

"Madrid was... I can't describe it. It was incredible, but I had already experienced it. I wanted to experience something different.

"For me, England and Manchester have something special. I feel the passion for football every day. Now that it's over, I have no regrets," Varane confessed.
