Fatal accidents in Kukës, residents rise in protest

Several citizens protested this Saturday morning in Kukës, due to concerns about safety on the city's roads, demanding immediate measures to avoid accidents.
The protest has been caused by several fatal accidents, while recently a 51-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on the city's entrance road, which connects Kukës with the Kukës-Morinë segment of the National Road.
The location where the accident occurred is an area with a high flow of vehicles and businesses, where drivers often abuse speed.
After the incident, dozens of protesters gathered and blocked the road for several minutes as a sign of awareness and warning.
They demanded measures to increase security and warned that they would intensify protests if no action was taken to improve road safety conditions.
Protesters appealed for the state to intervene to prevent further accidents, as the situation has become worrying.
As reported, the 51-year-old was riding a moped on Friday morning when he was hit by a vehicle. As a result, he lost his life, while police arrested the 20-year-old driver of the vehicle.
