The "rescue" artery to the Southeast is collapsing, Spathari residents

The road situation in the Librazhd area is critical, as the alternative road connecting Tirana with the southeast of the country is heading towards total collapse.

After the indefinite blockage of the Librazhd-Prrenjas national axis in the Arrat e Gurrës area, the entire flow of vehicles has been diverted to the rural segment Librazhd-Spathar-Ancient Egnatia Road-Dardhe-Hotolisht.

A road designed for local traffic is already handling thousands of vehicles per day, including heavy-duty vehicles, pushing the infrastructure beyond its capacity.

Given this, residents of the Spathari area, where the road also passes, have warned of a blockade if they do not find a solution to the situation.

They say that the situation has gotten out of control and that there is a lack of any concrete intervention on the ground to stabilize the segment.

They have warned that, if there is no immediate intervention to improve the parameters of the Spathar–Ancient Egnatia Road–Dardhe–Hotolisht road, they will take extreme measures, including blocking traffic, as a form of pressure on the institutions.

The alternative road is currently the only functional connection between Tirana and southeast Albania, serving not only for the daily movement of citizens, but also for the transport of goods and in cases of emergencies.

Any further deterioration of its condition risks deepening the total isolation of the area and bringing significant economic and social consequences.
