In the Foggia court in Italy, the second trial was held on Friday against Taulant Malaj, the 45-year-old Albanian, who on May 7, 2023, stabbed his 16-year-old daughter Jessica and Italian neighbor Massimo De Santis to death. In the session, two videos were shown of the killing of the Italian girl and the wounding of his wife, Tefta Malaj.

The first video shown in front of the judges was recorded by home cameras, while the other was recorded by Malaj's mobile phone. In the latter, the body of De Santis also appears on the steps of the palace.

The accused stayed in the courtroom for only a few minutes. Seconds into the videos (which last a total of 15 minutes) he started screaming and banging his head against the bars of the cage in the courtroom, according to Italian media.

The President of the High Court then ordered the removal of the Albanian from the courtroom. The videos were shown at the request of prosecutors Sabrina Cicala and Antonio Laronga, to support the testimony of a carabinieri from the operative unit of the San Severo company, among the first to arrive at the scene and carry out the investigations.

The images reflect both the moments of the massacre, captured by the cameras installed in the house by Tefta Malaj, and the behavior of Taulant Malaj after this serious act. Malaj, in fact, filmed the corpses and his wife after the incident. Considering the serious images, the Court decided that the session will take place behind closed doors.

Also present in the courtroom was his wife Tefta, with the lawyer Roberto de Rossi. The lawyer Matteo Tenace, who represents the family members of Massimo De Santis, was also present.

" It was very difficult for my client, the video brought back those dramatic moments in her mind and she cried throughout the duration of the videos ," commented lawyer De Rossi. The lawyer said that Tefta Malaj demands justice for her daughter, while the next hearing is held on June 7.

Taulant Malaj is accused of double murder with intent and aggravated attempted murder. In addition to killing his daughter, Malaj also killed his neighbor Massimo De Santis because he believed that his wife had cheated on him.
