A 31-year-old man has been arrested by the Saranda police, after being accused of possessing a weapon without a permit.
The blue uniforms indicate that 31-year-old Shkëlqim Murati was driving around with a firearm, a pistol, and combat ammunition in his vehicle.
During the search of the "Range Rover" vehicle driven by this citizen, in Ksamil, the Police services found hidden in his handbag, 1 firearm, a "Beretta" pistol, with a magazine of cartridges.
The Saranda Police Commissariat is finalizing the police operation codenamed "Impact" to crack down on the criminal activity of illegal weapons possession.
The 31-year-old was caught red-handed and handcuffed while carrying a firearm, a pistol with live ammunition, in a vehicle.
The firearm, its magazine with cartridges, and the "Range Rover" vehicle were seized.
Following the increased controls to guarantee public order and security during the tourist season, and based on information obtained in operational channels, regarding a case of illegal possession of weapons that violated the safety of citizens, the services of the Saranda Police Commissariat organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Impact". As a result, the Kosovar citizen was arrested in flagrante delicto:
Sh. M., 31 years old, resident of Gjilan, Kosovo.
During the search of the "Range Rover" vehicle driven by this citizen, in Ksamil, the Police services found hidden in his handbag, 1 firearm, a "Beretta" pistol, with a magazine of cartridges.
The 31-year-old's weapon, ammunition and vehicle were seized as evidence.
The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Saranda, for further action.
