Enthronement of Archbishop Joan, Pope Francis: Fraternal greetings in the love of Christ

Pope Francis has sent a message on the occasion of the enthronement of His Beatitude Joan, Orthodox Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania.

" In these difficult times marked by war and violence, it is even more urgent that Christians give a credible witness of unity, so that the world can fully embrace the evangelical message of fraternal solidarity and peace ," the message says.

The message concludes with the hope that under the leadership of Archbishop Joan, relations between the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania and the Catholic Church will grow further, seeking new forms of fruitful cooperation in the proclamation of the Gospel, in service to those most in need, and renewing our commitment to resolving the issues that still divide us through the dialogue of love and truth.
