Inspections in Shkodra for food safety/ Dashnor Sula: AKU will implement only one standard, harmonization with EU practices

Inspector General Dashnor Sula and the Director General of AKU, Blerina Gjylameti, supervise the inspection procedures in the Shkodra region and closely follow the controls at PIK Hani i Hotit.
In the context of strengthening official controls, unifying inspection practices and increasing food safety standards, the National Food Authority (AKU) developed a work program in Shkodra that included on-site supervision of inspection procedures, as well as advising the Shkodra Regional AKU inspection team on the work methodology and correct implementation of procedures.
This event was attended by the Inspector General, Mr. Dashnor Sula, together with the Director General of the NFA, Ms. Blerina Gjylameti, who closely followed and supervised the inspection process in two entities, with the aim of verifying the implementation of standard inspection procedures, documentation of findings, risk assessment and the use of a unified approach in the field, in accordance with best practices and orientation towards harmonization with European Union practices.
"The NFA will implement a single inspection standard, harmonized with European Union practices. There will be no tolerance for deviations from procedures: every control must be documented, reasoned and the same for everyone. Anyone who does not meet the legal requirements will face measures," said the Inspector General, Mr. Dashnor Sula.
During the inspection in the milk and by-products processing sector, with a particular focus on the production of cheese and butter, the main elements of control were verified, including hygiene and sanitary conditions, traceability of raw materials and final products, storage and handling practices, as well as compliance with applicable legal requirements. The inspection team was instructed to standardize inspection steps and to report findings uniformly, in order to increase the effectiveness and transparency of controls.
During the inspection of a chicken farm, special attention was paid to the categorization of eggs and compliance with the requirements for their treatment, storage, labeling and declaration. In parallel, advice was given on taking measures to improve conditions, emphasizing hygiene, the organization of work environments and processes, as well as the implementation of good practices, with the aim of increasing food safety standards and consumer protection.
"Harmonization with EU standards is not a slogan, but a duty of work on the ground. Operators must understand that food safety and correctness of practices are not negotiable. We will demand full compliance and support the inspection team with clear instructions, but also with strong decision-making when there are violations," declared the Director General of the AKU, Ms. Blerina Gjylameti.
Following the work program, the Inspector General Mr. Dashnor Sula and the Director General Ms. Blerina Gjylameti will also hold a working meeting with the inspectors of the Hani i Hotit BCP, in order to closely monitor the control and inspection procedures at the border point. This engagement aims to strengthen coordination, guarantee the uniform implementation of procedures and increase the efficiency of entry-exit controls, in order to secure the food chain.
The NFA reaffirms its commitment to increasing food safety standards, strengthening the professional capacities of the inspection body and implementing unified practices, in accordance with the legal framework and orientation towards European Union standards, with the aim of protecting consumer health and guaranteeing safe products on the market.
