A Carabinieri operation in the Centro area of Genoa led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Albanian man, from whom a significant amount of narcotics was seized.

Italian police confirmed that investigations are underway against him for drug trafficking and involvement in a criminal organization.

The intervention came after reports from Struppa residents, who had reported the unusual presence of a young man in a building on 'Benedetto da Porto' street, where frequent and suspicious movements raised suspicions of illegal activity.

The Carabinieri decided to intervene and stopped the 18-year-old at the entrance to the apartment.

During the personal search, three small vacuum-sealed packages were found in his jacket, each containing 50 doses of cocaine, while in his jeans pocket there was a pack of cigarettes containing another 74 doses.

In total, authorities seized 224 doses of drugs, about 140 grams, ready for distribution.

The search was extended to the young man's residential premises, where two more packages of cocaine weighing 800 and 121 grams respectively were found, along with processing and packaging equipment, such as vacuum machines, three precision scales and a large amount of plastic materials.

In total, the seized quantity exceeds one kilogram of drugs considered to be of high quality. The 18-year-old Albanian has been sent to the Marassi prison, where he is awaiting confirmation of the arrest measure.

Italian authorities are investigating further to identify the arrestee's possible links to criminal groups operating in drug trafficking in the region.
