The national highway Librazhd-Prrenjas continues to be blocked since 11:00, leaving dozens of vehicles stranded in traffic for hours.
Among the drivers and passengers are children and the elderly, who are facing difficult conditions due to low temperatures and a lack of information about the situation.
According to citizens stranded on the road, the cause of the situation is suspected to be a landslide, while heavy vehicles have been seen intervening from time to time, without giving a concrete deadline for the reopening of traffic.
" We have been waiting for more than an hour and a half. We were not here when it happened, but about 500 meters away. They told us that the mountain had collapsed. We are traveling from Tirana to Macedonia, but no one is giving us any information. We just want the road to be opened so we can go to our families, who are worried ," says a citizen.
The situation is even more problematic for the elderly and people with health problems. One of them says he has been waiting for over five hours, in difficult weather conditions.
" We have been waiting for about five hours. We are sick and no one has given us any explanations. We are staying inside the car because it is very cold outside ," he said.
