The extreme heat will accompany us in the following days. According to the Military Meteorological Service, the following days will be characterized by extremely high temperatures, both in maximum and minimum values.
The heat wave is expected to last until the end of the week and maximum temperatures are expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow, July 18 and 19.
According to experts, the temperatures can feel even higher because the penetration of hot masses over the Mediterranean Sea causes them to carry with them a high amount of moisture.
Even the minimum values will not drop below 26-27 degrees in urban areas, causing the country to experience the phenomenon of tropical nights for the next few days.
Our country has been experiencing high temperatures for weeks and doctors have called for citizens, especially those with chronic diseases, to be careful and avoid going out during peak hours.
High temperatures have also increased the risk of fires. According to the table of the Institute of Geosciences, the highest level of fire risk is in the entire district of Fier, while the risk remains high in localized areas of Korça, Vlora and Gjirokastra.
In these last 5 years, July 2023 has recorded the highest temperature in Albania of 43.6 degrees in Elbasan, which is probably not expected to be surpassed by this July's wave.
