"When I was putting my suitcase in the car, he saw me..." - Ilaria

Other details have been revealed from the investigation into the murder of 22-year-old Albanian Ilaria Sula, and the testimony of the perpetrator, her ex-boyfriend, Mark Samson.

According to Italian media, as previously stated to investigators, Samson has once again stated that after killing Ilaria in his bedroom on March 26, he took the suitcase with her dead body out of the house himself and put it in his car.

But, unlike other times, in addition to insisting that he loaded the body into the car himself, he also mentions a witness, a person who is said to have seen him pulling the suitcase containing Ilaria Sula's body.

This statement has raised new questions for investigators as to why, despite the great media hype, this witness has not yet come forward.

"I loaded the suitcase into the car myself, I'm strong, put me to the test. Another person saw me," the 23-year-old writes in his letter, compiled from the cell where he is being held and which was handed over to Rome prosecutors by his lawyers.

Investigators in the case, led by Rome prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini, have found that Samson repeatedly lied during the investigation. He hid the fact that he had failed his studies, that he had only taken one exam in architecture, and lied about the role of his mother, who, according to police records, helped him clean up the blood after the crime.

He also attempted to divert the investigation by using the victim's phone to simulate false movements in Naples and to create the idea that Ilaria was alive and had met a friend known online.

In his first statements to the police and prosecutors, Samson denied his full involvement, while now, urged by his lawyers, he has begun to partially cooperate with justice.

He now claims that he did not throw the phone into a well, as he had previously stated, but that the cell phone was hidden under the mattress in his parents' room, where his mother had placed it and where it was found by the police.
