The Ardenica Monastery is in danger of collapsing, due to erosion

The monastery of Ardenica is in danger of collapsing. The cause is erosion in the southwestern part of this historical monument.
Due to the landslide, the walls are almost all cracked. Sokrat Nako, one of the members of the management staff, says that no institution has provided a solution to this problem, although there is a real study for the fortification of the hill.
"The retaining walls are open and ready to collapse. We have done a study and a real project for sewing the entire monastery hill with piles. We ask for help from anyone who can because we as a church cannot afford to repair it ourselves. this has cracked, the walls inside have begun to crack as well. In some places even the doors don't close anymore", says Sokrat Nako.
The "Birth of Saint Mary" monastery in Ardenica, which is one of the most visited by tourists, is believed to have been founded in 1282. This Byzantine-Orthodox cult object covers an area of 2,500 square meters. In 1743, on the initiative of the bishop of Berat, Metodi, who was originally from Bubullima, it is said that this historical monument was repaired.
