The Albanian-American pilot who bombed Serbia: As soon as the call was made, I showed up first

Twenty-five years ago, NATO began a bombing campaign against Serbian forces, thus marking the end of the occupation of Serbia. Among the pilots who flew the fighter planes that bombed Serbia, was the Albanian-American Faruza Kallaba.
She says that every anniversary that passes, she remembers her father and the people of Kosovo. "It makes me remember everything. I miss my father, but I have his family and mine that we spend time together". Recalling the bombings of the previous 25 years, she says there were important missions.
" I had many nights standing in the air. Some of them have been very important. We have stayed in France and were flying over the area and had to refuel the planes in flight. We did everything necessary to help Kosovo and for me this was a wonderful thing" , she said to RTK.
Kalluza says that from time to time pilots are given the opportunity to choose whether they want to participate in military missions in certain countries, and she says that she was happy that it was about Kosovo.
" From time to time we are given the opportunity who wants to go on missions, except in cases where the whole unit lands. This time as soon as the opportunity arose I was the first to show up because this was very special to me. In all the years of my career, this was the culmination of my career, as I was close to retirement."
Today Mrs. Kallaba's military uniform is in a museum in Kosovo and according to her this is a great emotion for her.
Faruza says that the last time she was with her father was in Kosovo in 2004 and it was very emotional for her. In 2008, her father had fled from this life.
Faruza Kallaba was born in Damascus, Syria (Arabia) on November 3, 1956 to an Albanian father, Haki Kallaba, and a Ukrainian mother, Ana Senkiewicz.
As a child, Faruza and her family moved from Arabia and settled in Chicago, USA, where she still lives today.
In Kosovo, March 24 is regarded as a day of decisive importance for the country's history.
For the 78 days that the air campaign lasted, on the ground it was used by the Serbian forces for retaliatory attacks against the Albanians. Over 10,000 people were killed, over 800,000 were expelled from Kosovo, while another 5,000 were counted as missing at the end of the war.
