Kilometer-long queue at Qafë Botë, long waits for vehicles due to Greek customs
Another day of difficult situation has been recorded at the Qafë Bota Border Crossing Point, where travelers are facing long waits and high temperatures, due to slow processing by the Greek side at Mavromati customs.
While the Albanian authorities at Qafë Botë are operating with three exit counters and the processing of vehicles is carried out within five minutes, the Greek side is experiencing significant delays, up to an hour for each vehicle, causing long queues and waits of up to three hours.
Sources from the border crossing point say that today alone, around 1,500 Albanian and foreign citizens, as well as 900 vehicles, have crossed the border from the Albanian side. The flow has increased significantly due to the tourist season and emigrants returning to the country for vacation.
Citizens are frustrated and tired of the delays, while the high temperatures of July make the wait even more difficult. This situation has been repeated for several days, without any intervention or concrete reaction from the Greek side to speed up the process.
