The Union of Trade Unions of Albania is holding a protest in front of the Ministry of Economy this Tuesday, raising the alarm about the growing crisis in public services.

According to the Union, the public sector is facing pressure due to insufficient investment, staff shortages, low salaries and increasing workload. They also point out that the emigration of professionals is worsening the situation in vital sectors such as health, education and social services in our country.

Alarm on the growing emergency of public services. In Albania and Europe, public services are under extraordinary pressure. Low investment, staff shortages, low wages, increasing workloads and weakening protection for labor rights have led many vital sectors to a critical situation. While military spending and market-oriented policies increase, public and functional services keep them functional and are being neglected.

Employees are being asked to do more with fewer resources while the quality of services to citizens is decreasing. For the Albanian Trade Union Confederation, this emergency is visible every day. Public institutions continue to face staff shortages and unfilled vacancies, insecure workloads, emigration of qualified professionals, many employees in health, education and social services face low salaries that do not match the increasing cost of living and the value of the work they perform,” said a representative.

They demand increased public investment, higher wages, and dignified conditions.

"Therefore, today we demand increased public investment in quality public services, higher salaries and dignified conditions, employment and the guarantee of safe levels of staff."

Another representative also called for the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposition leader Sali Berisha.

"Rama resigns, Berisha resigns. Let the young people make way to be part of this system," he said.
