Elderly man pours gasoline on his wife and sets her on fire, is handcuffed by police in Elbasan

A serious incident has been recorded in the village of Karakavec in Përrenjas, Elbasan, where police have arrested a 69-year-old man suspected of extreme domestic violence.

According to the police, citizen Gani Danga is suspected of dousing his 67-year-old wife with gasoline and setting her on fire for weak motives.

She has been transported to the hospital where she is receiving treatment and is out of danger.

According to information provided by Top Channel journalist Bruna Kërçyku, Danga had been raping his wife for a long time, while the latter had received a protection order.

The materials have been referred to the prosecutor's office for further action.
