Three people were killed, according to a statement from Vaud cantonal police. They are workers – a 43-year-old Swiss, a 35-year-old Cape Verdean and a 30-year-old Frenchman.

At least four people were seriously injured, two others were slightly injured and two were slightly injured. In total, about a dozen people were injured, a spokesman for Vaud cantonal police said at the scene of the accident.

Initially, suspicions were raised that one Albanian and two Portuguese were among the victims.

The two people who first disappeared are among the dead. The families of the victims have been notified and are receiving psychological support, Swiss media write.

"The entire scaffolding facade on one side of the 19-story building collapsed," Romandie Jean-Christophe Sauterel, spokesman for the Vaud cantonal police, confirmed to Blick.

The accident happened at the Malley Phare construction site. This construction project aims to raise the western part of the Malley Lumières shopping center by 14 floors. It is the first wooden tower in western Switzerland with an active photovoltaic facade.

The building is located next to the Vaudoise Arena, the stadium of HC Lausanne, closed to the public.
