The Transformation of "Gert the General"/ How the 52-year-old who killed Tirana's "strongman", Naim Zyberi, has changed

Gert Gjinarari, also known as "Gert the General", who is considered one of the most well-known names in the Albanian criminal world, was arrested today in Belgium.

Police found that the 52-year-old was in possession of forged Italian documents.

Gjinarari was sentenced to life imprisonment for the criminal offenses of "Premeditated Murder", committed in collaboration, "Premeditated Murder", "Production and sale of narcotics", "Criminal organization" and "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and structured criminal group".

The 52-year-old has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Tirana's strongman, Naim Zyberi, in 1997 in Italy.

Meanwhile, a photo of the 52-year-old has been published in the media, who now appears transformed.

Known by the nickname "The General", Gjinarari was sentenced to life imprisonment by an Italian court in 1997 after killing Tirana's "strongman", Naim Zyberi, and in 2014 he was extradited to Albania, where the Tirana Court upheld the life imprisonment verdict.

The crime occurred at a hospital in Milan, where Zyberi was receiving medical treatment.

At that time, investigations revealed that Gjinarari and Arben Grori entered the hospital room posing as relatives of the patient and carried out the execution with a firearm, which they had hidden inside a bouquet of flowers.

After being extradited to our country, in 2019, Gjinarari was released on bail by the Korça Court, a decision that caused strong reactions. Later, the Court of Appeal overturned the release decision, ordering his return to prison.

After this decision, Gjinarari no longer appeared for the execution of the measure and was declared an international wanted person.
Now, after his arrest in Belgium, it is expected that Gerd Gjinarari will be extradited to our country.
