US-Iran agreement, Lebanon reacts: We have not been informed about the

Lebanon has not been informed of the agreement between the United States and Iran, which envisages an end to the war on all fronts in the Middle East, including that between Hezbollah and Israel, an official Lebanese source told AFP.

"We have not been informed about the terms of the agreement" nor about when the ceasefire in the war between the Shiite organization Hezbollah and Lebanon will come into effect, said this official source who asked to remain anonymous.

However, hostilities in the southern part of the country have decreased in intensity and Lebanon's official ANI news agency reported that there were no Israeli attacks this morning.

For its part, Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the attacks against Israel since Sunday night.

In a statement, the speaker of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Berri, welcomed “Iran and the US” and thanked both countries for “insisting on including in the agreement a necessary and binding condition that foresees the end of the Israeli attack against all of Lebanon.”

The US-Iran agreement provides for "the immediate and final end to the war and military operations on various fronts, including Lebanon," said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stressed that the country will keep its troops in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I are pursuing a clear policy according to which the Israeli military will remain in the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza indefinitely to protect Israeli borders and communities from jihadist elements," Yisrael Katz said in a statement.

Katz also warned Iran that Israel would retaliate with "full force" if the Islamic Republic attacks it in response to its military operations in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, authorities in southern Lebanon have urged displaced people not to return to their homes yet.

The Israeli military has been destroying villages in southern Lebanon for weeks, saying it is acting against Hezbollah fighters hiding in areas where civilians live.
