Three injured after the revolt in the Gjadri camp, sources from institutions:

Sources of Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha at the Prosecutor's Office and local police in the area where the Gjadri camp is located have reacted regarding the incident that occurred the day before.

"Albania was not involved in the Gjadri incident and revolt, the event is considered to have occurred on Italian territory," the sources said.

Just a few days after arriving on Albanian soil and settling into the Gjadri camp, immigrants brought from Italy have caused tension.

As neighboring media reports, some of the immigrants who have been held in Gjadra since April 11 have revolted, even committing acts of violence.

According to Italian authorities, around 20 migrants have damaged the rooms where they are staying, as well as destroyed some of the equipment inside them.

Three of the migrants suffered minor knife injuries. Immediately after the incident, the Italian authorities, who manage everything that happens inside the camp, reacted by placing the problematic migrants in isolation, who are being kept under monitoring.

Regarding the tension within the Albanian camp, Italian media have asked their Interior Minister, Mateo Piantedosi, who has confirmed that the contingent is problematic, as among them there are those accused or convicted of serious crimes, including attempted murder, sexual violence, injuries, child pornography, theft, robbery and possession of narcotics.

The 40 migrants who arrived in Shëngjin on the ship 'Libra' on April 11 are a criminal contingent and have been refused asylum in Italy. They will remain in the Gjadri camp until they are repatriated to their countries of origin. The maximum period of stay in Albania will be 18 months.

Initially, the Gjadri camp was conceived to temporarily house asylum seekers rescued at sea by Italian ships. But with the new decree of the Meloni government, “Gjadri” will serve as a detention center for immigrants who no longer have the right to asylum and are expected to be deported to their countries of origin.
