Suspended for abuse of office, Tirana Court lifts the measure against the director of AMP

The Tirana Court decided to lift the suspension from duty of the director of the Police Supervision Agency, Florian Sulejmani.

The decision was given today in the Tirana Criminal Court immediately after a court in Berat declared incompetence.

During the closed-door session, the prosecutor stated that the criteria do not exist for the suspension measure to remain in force.

According to the prosecutor, the order of the head of the AMP to transfer two officers, one to Dibër and the other to Fier, did not cause any consequences as they could have been replaced with other officers.

The General Director of the Police Supervision Agency, Florian Sulejmani, was suspended from duty at the request of the Berat Prosecutor's Office, on April 16.

The prosecution filed charges against him for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", which was accepted by the First Instance Court of Berat.

According to the prosecution, the director of the AMP, Florian Sulejmani, has transferred judicial police officers in violation of the law.

"In the assessment of the prosecution and the confirmation of the court, there is a reasonable suspicion based on evidence that the person under investigation transferred judicial police officers in complete violation of Article 10, point 1, letter "c" and Article 22 of Law No. 25/2019 "On the Organization and Functioning of the Judicial Police", and Article 62, point 5, of Law No. 128/2021 "On the Police Supervision Agency", "- the Prosecution announced.

Also, according to the prosecution, there are important reasons that put the obtaining or authenticity of the evidence at risk.

"The security measure is appropriate to the security need."

"Also, this preventive measure guarantees a fair ratio between the importance of the fact and the sanction provided for the specific criminal offense with the type of security measure," the prosecution informs.
