Death of 4 Albanians in Vienna, 10 children left orphaned/ Protests expected: We want justice

Three days after the fatal accident at a construction site in Vienna, new details are emerging. Four men lost their lives, while more than ten children lost their fathers.

The fatal work accident at a construction site in Alsergrund has caused a great shock not only in Vienna, but also internationally. Four men lost their lives: three Albanians from Kosovo and one Albanian from Bosnia.

The incident occurred during construction work on an attic expansion. During the pouring of concrete, the entire scaffolding and formwork structure collapsed, burying several construction workers under rubble and liquid concrete.

Over 10 children lost their fathers

Both the Austrian authorities and representatives of the Kosovo government expressed their condolences to the families of the victims. Particularly tragic: more than ten children lost their fathers in this accident.

The construction company involved expressed deep shock and condolences to the families in a statement:

"We are deeply moved by the tragic event at one of our construction sites. Our most sincere condolences go to those affected and their families... Out of respect for them and given the ongoing investigation, we ask for your understanding that we cannot provide any further details at this time. Please treat the situation with respect..."

Investigations into the causes of the accident are ongoing. The case, after examination of the bodies, has been handed over to the Vienna Prosecutor's Office and it is expected that autopsies will also be ordered. It is now being verified whether there was negligence or criminal liability.

The event has also deeply shocked the Albanian community in Austria. According to the Swiss newspaper LeCanton27, there are currently over 200,000 Albanians from different regions in Austria. Following this tragedy, a peaceful protest is being organized in Vienna with the motto: “We demand justice and responsibility” for the four victims.
