"I wish I had never met him," Princess of Norway on Epstein: I was

Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has said she regrets her friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, saying she was manipulated and deceived. In an interview with Norwegian public broadcaster NRK, the princess said:

"I was manipulated and deceived. Of course, I wish I had never met him. It is extremely important for me to admit that I did not check his background more carefully and also to admit that I was manipulated and deceived so much." Mette-Marit clarified that her relationship with Epstein was friendly and not of the other nature:

“It was a friendly relationship: he was first and foremost my friend. But if your question is whether the relationship was of another nature, the answer is no.” The princess, wife of Crown Prince Haakon, maintained contact with Epstein from 2011 to 2014 and stayed at his Palm Beach home for four days during a private visit in 2013, according to US documents. She stressed that she did not witness any illegal activity:

"I have never seen anything illegal," Mette-Marit said. The statement comes after public backlash over the princess's relationship with Epstein, attempting to clarify the nature of the relationship and her remorse for the period.
