The famous rapper risks up to 20 years in prison, what charges is he facing?

American rapper and actor Mystikal has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and now faces up to 20 years in prison. The rapper, whose real name is Michael Tyler, is accused of raping, strangling and robbing a woman at his home in Ascension, Louisiana, in 2022.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, said Tyler took her keys and phone and raped her, while she demanded the money he had taken from her earlier. He only let her leave after forcing her to send him money via Cash App.
Tyler, 55, now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, with a sentencing hearing scheduled for June. If he had been convicted on the original charges, he would have been sentenced to life in prison.
He was initially charged with first-degree rape, simple damage to property, domestic violence by strangulation, simple robbery, and unlawful deprivation of liberty, but ultimately pleaded guilty to an amended charge of third-degree rape.
This is not the first time the rapper has faced serious allegations of sexual abuse. Back in 2004, he was accused of sexually assaulting his hairdresser, after which he spent six years in prison. After his release, he registered as a sex offender. In 2012, he was sentenced to three months in prison for domestic violence. Five years later, he was again accused of rape and kidnapping, but authorities later dismissed the case.
Mystikal is best known for hits such as "Shake Ya Ass", recorded with Pharrell Williams and nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001, as well as the song "Danger (Been So Long)".
He released his first album in 1995, after which he joined the label No Limit Records, where he became a prominent performer in the late 1990s. He later moved to Jive Records and was nominated for a Grammy Award again in 2003 for the album Tarantula and the song "Bouncin' Back."
