It happens for the first time in 60 years! The mosque in Jerusalem closes during Eid, the Israeli authorities remove the believers (VIDEO)

For the first time since 1967, the Al-Alsa Mosque in Jerusalem remained closed during Eid. This was after Israeli authorities closed the mosque at the beginning of the war with Iran for "security reasons."
The gates of the mosque were not opened today either, so believers prayed as close to the holy sites as possible.
"This unprecedented restriction has prevented thousands of Palestinians from celebrating one of the most important religious occasions of the year in one of Islam's holiest sites," the Presidential High Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine said.
In the footage that has circulated online, people can be seen running away from the mosque and smoke can be seen in the air, which is likely to be tear gas used by the authorities.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, has religious significance for both Muslims and Jews. In recent decades, it has become a point of tension, including restrictions on access for Palestinian Muslims to the site, as well as Israeli excavation projects nearby and evictions of Palestinian residents in surrounding neighborhoods.
