A 30-year-old man was handed over to Kalamata today in connection with the double murder that took place in Finikounda in early October. According to information, an international arrest warrant was pending against him, and he is accused of complicity in the crime. A few days ago, authorities arrested the nephew of the 68-year-old owner of the Finikounda campsite and a friend of his, a businessman from Athens, following arrest warrants issued by the investigating officer in the framework of the investigation. Both are accused of inciting the crime.
Authorities had declared the 30-year-old, a friend of the arrested businessman, wanted for suspected involvement in the case. This is the fifth arrest in the investigation, as in addition to his nephew and friend, two other people have also been arrested for the crime.
The suspects' denials
The owner's nephew and his businessman friend have been remanded in custody. During his defense, the nephew repeated previous statements given as a witness, denying any involvement in the incident. He declared his innocence, said he wants the case to be fully investigated and that he has cooperated with the authorities from the beginning, describing the accusations as unfounded coincidences.
For his part, the businessman from Athens, a close friend of the nephew and co-manager of the campsite, insisted on his innocence, stressing that he has been unjustly accused and reiterating the position he has held since the beginning of the investigation.
