Murder of Officer Xhulio Prela, Appeal requests information from SPAK: Give us the conversations on SKY ECC of Ervis and Brilant Martinaj

The Court of Appeal, which is reviewing the criminal file against Redion Hysa and Nikollë Sherrnik regarding the murder of police officer Xhulio Prela, has put the Special Prosecution Office in motion and is requesting information from it whether the encrypted Sky ECC application contains conversations or data related to the serious crime.

Redion Hysa has been declared innocent by the Lezha Court on the charge of murdering a police officer, at a time when the prosecution had requested his sentence of 20 years in prison, while Sherrnik, a close associate of Ervis Martinaj, is accused of creating the conditions to commit murder in connection with this event.
Brilant Martinaj, Ervis Martinaj's first cousin, was initially charged with the murder of Xhulio Prela. Later, the prosecution dismissed the charges against him and arrested Hysa, after the pistol with which the crime was committed was found in the water tank above his house, although no fingerprints of the arrested person were found on it.
During the review of the file in the General Jurisdiction Appeal, the testimonies of the police officers who investigated the case were taken, at a time when the court decided to request from SPAK the possible conversations on Sky ECC at the time the incident occurred, between Ervis Martinaj and his late cousin Brilant Martinaj, and whether these two or other users had talked about the crime and whether they implicated the two defendants Hysa and Sherrniku.
After administering this evidence, the Appeals Chamber will also sign its verdict regarding the two defendants.
Xhulio Prela was killed while returning from Shkodra to Tirana, after accompanying a relative of his. Referring to security camera footage, the only vehicles that appear to have been on that road for a long time, because movement was limited by the COVID-19 pandemic, are the one driven by Xhuilipo Prela and the second by Brilant Martinaj.
The latter is proven by the surveillance cameras of a gas station very close to the crime scene, where Martinaj, dressed in military uniform, is stopped and refuels the car. Brilant Martinaj was executed on July 17, 2022 at the Fushë Krujë overpass along with his two friends, and after the mafia assassination, the Lezha court acquitted Redion Hysa of the charges, after nearly two years in custody.
