Attack near US embassy in Kuwait, authorities issue emergency notice to American citizens

Smoke clouds have been seen rising over Kuwait, following reports of a possible attack near the United States embassy in the country.

The latest images show plumes of smoke over the urban area, while the US Embassy in Kuwait has issued a warning to American citizens, asking them not to appear on its premises and to shelter in place until further notice.

One person was reported killed in Kuwait the day before, as Iran launched airstrikes in several parts of the Middle East.

Kuwait, a US ally that also hosts a US military base, said it had intercepted missiles fired towards its territory.
