Could the next Pope be a woman?

The next pope cannot be a woman. The BBC writes in its article that only men of the Roman Catholic Church who have been baptized can be considered in the selection of the Pope.

In theory, it could be any baptized man, but in practice, the cardinals prefer to choose one from among themselves. Furthermore, only men can be ordained as priests in the Catholic Church.

A related argument explains that since Jesus' 12 disciples were men, it must be men who lead the Church.

However, there have been justifications for naming both men and women. For example, in Christian teachings, man and woman were created by God, so both are equal before Him and should be named the same.
