Bomb alert in the Jewish ghetto in Rome, the school is evacuated

A bomb alarm went off in the Jewish ghetto of Rome this morning, October 18. The Jewish community school was evacuated as a precaution and the students were moved to a safe location. Police checks are continuing to find out if it is a false alarm and a specialist bomb squad is checking the area.
The alarm is maximum, in the ghetto, after the attack on Israel and the 80th anniversary of the Jewish gathering, on October 16. The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, also participated in the ceremony at the Portico d'Ottavia. A few days ago, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited the synagogue to reiterate the closeness of the institutions to the Jewish community, after the attacks by Hamas.
The head of the Jewish Community Victor Fadlun, on the sidelines of the presentation of the October 16 initiatives at the Capitol, declared: "Am I afraid of the celebrations of October 16, 1943? We are afraid, of course, but we have Italy protecting us, which is working hard to do so in every way. We feel solidarity, we are surrounded by the warmth of the country".
