The weapon that is scaring NATO/ What is "Alabuga", the new

A new weapon, baptized by Russia as "Alabuga", has turned into NATO's nightmare. "Alabuga" is a potentially unique Russian electromagnetic radiation complex that has got the Western press talking.

Initially, the new Russian weapon was heard in September of this year, when Vladimir Putin, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Vladivostok, said that the country is working on weapons based on new physical principles that will guarantee security in the near future.

Russia recently successfully tested the Burevestnik nuclear-powered missile, but the Alabuga has sparked even greater interest and curiosity, as its capabilities are believed to be more destructive than a nuclear bomb.

The head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, after becoming familiar with the possible technical characteristics of this weapon (referring to exclusive US intelligence services), called on Moscow to stop its development.

According to him, the appearance of such weapons would allow any country to gain indisputable military superiority. "Such a development exceeds the entire nuclear arsenal of the alliance," NATO's Secretary General said recently.

But how does the "beast" designed by Russia work?

According to information circulated in the media, the "Alabuga" development program was implemented in 2011-2012. Within the scope of scientific research, the focus was on the prospect of electronic weapons and their impact on the enemy's conventional equipment with the possibility of their complete failure. All because of high-precision radiation, with the help of which it is believed that any device can be immobilized.

However, at the moment these are only speculations of journalists. Moreover, in the field of information "Alabuga" is known as a rocket, but the term is not completely correct. The military expert and editor of the magazine "Arsenali i Atdheut", Alexey Leonkov, stated that the work on the creation of "Alabuga" is still in the experimental phase.

"This is a new type of ammunition that can damage communications equipment with an electromagnetic pulse. This impulse occurs as a result of the explosion of special ammunition consisting of a conventional explosive and an electromagnetic induction coil. At the same time, compression occurs and a large amount of electromagnetic pulse is released, but only in a limited area. That is, it is not like a nuclear explosion that covers a large part of the territory depending on the power of the charge, but a smaller area that extends to a radius of 3 to 5 kilometers," explains Leonkov.

The main purpose of "Alabuga" is the informative component. This means that the weapon is directed against the combat control system, detection and communication systems.

"When such a weapon explodes, it happens that in all the communication circuits - in the electrical circuits, and in the electronic boards, many short circuits occur and they fail completely functionally," explained the expert.

The development of ammunition similar to the Russian "Alabuga" was also carried out in the USA and Israel. An example is the Israeli "Scorpius" weapon - an electronic warfare system that allows them to shoot down enemy missiles, aircraft and drones without using anti-aircraft batteries. The Scorpius complex sends out highly targeted energy beams that jam sensors, radars, navigation and other electronic activity.

Another important detail about "Alabuga" is that the carrier of an electromagnetic pulse generator will be able to send it to a certain point, thus avoiding the danger posed by a large missile, which can be detected by enemy air defense and anti-missile system.

Russia is now working on finding a carrier for special munitions. However, it is not yet known if these will be large-caliber projectiles, or if they will be some kind of surface-to-surface missiles that can explode in the air directly near the target.
