On the day of crucial talks, peace is being killed with guns in Hormuz. Iran has launched drone attacks on US military ships in the Gulf of Oman, the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim reports.

This development comes after the United States Navy seized an Iranian-flagged container ship in the same location.

There were no reports of any visible damage from the drone strikes. Earlier, Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command, the country's highest operational command unit that coordinates the armed forces, described the US naval operation as a violation of the ceasefire and said it would "retaliate for this act of armed piracy by the US Navy."

However, US President Donald Trump said the ship was given “appropriate warning to stop” but the crew “refused to listen, so the Navy ship stopped them immediately by blowing a hole in the engine room.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is trying to calm tensions after the weekend escalation between Washington and Tehran.

“War is not in anyone’s interest and, in confronting threats, every rational and diplomatic path must be pursued to reduce tensions,” he stressed, according to the state news agency IRNA. The Iranian president added, however, that “distrust of the enemy and vigilance in interactions are an undeniable necessity.”

Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, says that Iran's positions in talks with the United States are strictly guided by national interests and security.

He described the participation in the talks as an extension of the country's efforts on the battlefield. The US and Iran will hold peace talks in Pakistan today, with Vice President JD Vance leading the American delegation. The two-week US-Iran ceasefire is expected to end on Wednesday.

On Sunday, Trump again threatened to hit Iranian power plants and bridges if a deal is not reached.
