One of the FBI's 10 most wanted men arrested in Mexico

One of the FBI's ten most wanted fugitives has been arrested in Mexico. The news was confirmed by the FBI itself, which announced that it is Alejandro Rosales Castillo, 27, a US citizen.

According to US authorities, Rosales Castillo is accused of murdering Chuk Quan Leigh Laya, known as "Santi", a young American woman of Vietnamese origin, with whom he had previously worked at a restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The FBI had offered a $250,000 reward for information leading to his capture. The 27-year-old was also the subject of an Interpol “red notice” and an extradition warrant. He faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, kidnapping and vehicle theft.

The arrest was made in the state of Hidalgo, in central Mexico. According to Omar García Harfuch, Mexico's Minister of Security, the operation was the result of cooperation between Mexican and US authorities. After the arrest, the suspect was presented before the prosecutor's office.

The US Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, praised the arrest as a successful example of bilateral cooperation in the fight against crime.

According to US media, Rosales Castillo had a brief relationship with the victim and is suspected of deceiving her by promising to repay a debt. Investigations are ongoing, while proceedings for his extradition to the United States are expected to begin.
