"AstraZeneca" admits: The anti-Covid vaccine can cause side effects

AstraZeneca has admitted for the first time that its anti-Covid vaccine may cause a rare side effect.

This has come after several lawsuits that the pharmaceutical giant's vaccine has caused death and serious injury in dozens of cases. Attorneys for the plaintiffs argued that the vaccine produced a side effect that had a devastating effect on a number of families.

The Telegraph reports that 51 cases have been filed in Britain's High Court, with victims and relatives seeking damages from AstraZeneca estimated to be up to £100 million. One of the cases was brought last year by father-of-two Jamie Scott, who was left with permanent brain damage after suffering a blood clot and a brain bleed that prevented him from working after receiving the vaccine in April 2021 -sell.

AstraZeneca has disputed the claims, but on the other hand has admitted in a legal document submitted to the Supreme Court in February that its anti-Covid vaccine can in rare cases cause TTS (Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome). TTS causes blood clots and a low number of platelets in the blood.

"It is accepted that the AZ vaccine in very rare cases can cause TTS. The causative mechanism is not known", says the legal document submitted by "AstraZenenca" to the Supreme Court.

Lawyers representing the families who sued the drug company argue that the vaccine was not that safe. Official figures from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) show that at least 81 deaths in the UK are suspected to have been linked to the adverse reaction which caused clotting in people who also had low blood platelets.

AstraZeneca has previously argued in court documents that the claims against the company are false. In the defense filing, the company AstraZeenca said that the benefit from the vaccine was and remains positive.
