Erdogan: Turkey does not approve of attacks against Iran's sovereignty and

In his first intervention after the United States' air and missile attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that Turkey does not approve of attacks against Iran's sovereignty and the security of the region, "regardless of where they come from," without, however, making any specific reference to the US and Donald Trump.

Specifically, speaking at a civil servants union event in Ankara, the Turkish president declared: “We are the country that has demonstrated the clearest stance since October 7. While the official opposition smears the Palestinian resistance, characterizing it as terrorism, we stand steadfastly by the side of our brothers in Gaza.

"We are making a great effort to ensure that the attacks by Israel and its supporters against neighboring Iran do not cause greater destruction. We absolutely do not agree with the attacks that are being made against Iran's sovereignty and the security of the region, whoever makes them, and we clearly express our reaction."

The Turkish president was apparently referring to October 7, 2023, the day of Hamas' attack on Israel, which sparked the war in the Gaza Strip.

Referring to the initiatives that he and Turkey are taking in this direction, Tayyip Erdogan said that tomorrow, Tuesday, June 24, he will be in The Hague for the NATO Summit and emphasized his mobilization "to avoid irreparable disasters."

“We are trying to lead our country from troubled waters to calm waters. We do not act based on temporary policies, but by anticipating hidden dangers. We did it and we will do it so that none of our 86 million citizens are harmed.”
