Eric Trump declares presidential ambition after his father leaves the White House
US President Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump, has hinted that the Trump family has no intention of retiring from politics even after Donald Trump's term ends.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Eric Trump said that any other member of the Trump family could aim for the White House after his father's term, and he himself has even expressed ambitions as a candidate.
Eric Trump stated that " the political path for a family like ours would be easy."
Asked if he or any other family member would enter politics, he said: " The real question is: Will you bring other family members into this world? If the answer is yes, then the political path would be easy for me. And, for the sake of truth, for other family members as well."
Eric Trump, who serves as executive vice president of the Trump Organization, also spoke about real estate businesses around the world, defended his family from accusations of political gain, and highlighted the family's growing interest in cryptocurrencies, which he called " a perfect hedge for the property portfolio."
Although the Trump family continues to be at the center of criticism for the connection between politics and financial gains, Eric emphasized that, in his opinion, they have lost more than they have gained.
"If there's one family that hasn't benefited from politics, it's the Trump family. If my father hadn't run, we'd have a lot more zeros."
He didn't mention the fact that Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron, is reportedly already worth around $40 million thanks to the family's recent investments in cryptocurrencies.
Older brother Donald Jr. remains active in politics and the media, while sister Ivanka played a prominent role in the first Trump administration. Meanwhile, Eric's wife, Lara Trump, was co-chair of the Republican National Committee last year.
Eric Trump also criticizes the current political class.
"I'm completely disappointed in half the politicians I see. I think I could do a much better job."
He concluded the interview by emphasizing his commitment to family businesses.
"I manage wonderful hotels all over the world. I've been doing this my whole life, I started working in construction when I was 11 years old."
