Financial Times: Putin offers ceasefire in exchange for occupied territories!

The Financial Times newspaper reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed halting his invasion of Ukraine along the current front lines, as part of efforts to reach a peace deal with US President Donald Trump.

Putin told Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy, at their meeting earlier this month in St. Petersburg that Russia could give up its claims to those areas of the four partially occupied Ukrainian provinces that remain under Kiev's control, the newspaper added, citing several sources.

Witkoff will travel to Russia for talks with Putin this week, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt announced earlier today. “We hope we’re moving in the right direction on the Ukraine issue,” the spokeswoman said, noting that President Trump has expressed his dissatisfaction, both with Ukraine and Russia, with his efforts to end the war making no progress.
