Finding the pilot/ CIA director: Rescue operation was in a "race against time"

CIA Director John Ratcliffe said finding and rescuing the serviceman hiding in Iran after his plane was shot down was a daunting challenge. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Ratcliffe said the operation was comparable to searching for a single grain of sand in the middle of a desert.
"This was also a race against time, as it was essential that we find the downed aviator as quickly as possible, while at the same time keeping our enemies disoriented," Ratcliffe said.
The CIA director said his agency found and confirmed the service member was alive Saturday morning using human resources.
Ratcliffe said the agency relayed this information to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who notified President Donald Trump, setting the rescue mission in motion.
"Since it is a unique tradition of the U.S. Armed Forces that we leave no man or woman behind, this was a safe mission," he said.
