On Friday, the United States Supreme Court ruled that US President Donald Trump violated federal law by imposing a series of trade tariffs around the world without clear authorization from the US Congress.
Trump reacted after this decision, stating that this was a shameful decision by the judges.
He said at the beginning of the conference that the Supreme Court's decision was very disappointing.
"I am ashamed of some members of the court because they do not have the courage to do what is right for our country. What a shame, they have succumbed to foreign influence," the US president said.
The American leader thanked the three judges who voted in his favor, before adding that foreign countries, "who have been deceiving us for years," are now "threatening us in the streets." "They won't threaten us for long, I can assure you," he added, "the Democrats on the court are happy... they automatically vote against."
He reiterated that the court had greatly disappointed him and that he simply "wanted to be a good boy."
Otherwise, the Supreme Court announced that the emergency power on which the American leader relied to impose the tariffs "is not sufficient" to justify their imposition according to the size and purpose they had.
The court considered this a violation of the legal limitations that are shared between the executive and legislative branches, according to the US Constitution.
As a result, most of the fees imposed under this emergency law can now be declared illegal, and companies paying these fees can seek refunds for the amount paid during the period they were in effect.
