Iraq and Spain sign security cooperation agreement

Iraq and Spain signed a cooperation agreement on security and crime prevention on Wednesday.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani oversaw the signing ceremony between Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari and his Spanish counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, according to a statement from al-Sudani's media office.
The agreement includes cooperation in the fight against terrorism, criminal offenses, drug production, human trafficking, extortion and other crimes. According to the agreement, the two countries will exchange expertise and information, especially on technology and methods applied in criminal investigations.
Al-Sudani had previously met with Grande-Marlaska, during which he affirmed Iraq's commitment to advancing bilateral partnerships in sectors such as transportation.
