Former Polish Justice Minister fled from Hungary to the US, Poland: We will seek clarification from Washington and Budapest
Poland will seek explanations about how former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who is accused of abuse of power, managed to travel from Hungary to the United States, a Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman announced.
Warsaw hoped that after the removal from power of Viktor Orban, who had offered asylum to Zbigniew Ziobro and his deputy minister Marcin Romanowski, the two defendants would be extradited to Poland to face charges.
Polish authorities had confiscated both of their passports. Romanowski's whereabouts are unknown.
"We will ask both the US and Hungary for the legal framework and actual facts of Zbigniew Ziobro's removal from Hungarian territory," the spokesman said.
“And specifically, what is the document that allowed him to cross the border and gave him the right to enter the United States. We hope that this situation will be resolved and will not affect the good relations between the United States and Poland. ”
Zbigniew Ziobro has left Hungary and is in the United States, according to foreign media reports.
