Japan, thousands of dead fish wash ashore

Thousands of dead fish washed ashore in the city of Hakodate in the northern Japanese region of Hokkaido.
According to Japan's state television (NHK), a citizen notified officials about the dead fish.
An investigation was then carried out by the regional authorities.
Within this, the measures to be taken and what to do with the dead fish have been evaluated.
From the "Toi" Fishing Association, they announced that similar cases have happened before, but it is rare for this amount of fish to come ashore.
Hokkaido University marine organisms expert Mitsuhiro Nakaya said that as the region's seawater temperature dropped, fish migrated to the southern part of Hokkaido.
Mitsuhiro expressed the possibility that the fish in question may have been chased by dolphins or tuna.
" A large number of fish washed ashore, but this will not have a major impact on the ecosystem ," he said.
