JD Vance: US will withdraw from Ukraine peace process if Moscow and Kiev do not reach agreement
US Vice President James David Vance has reiterated that the US is prepared to suspend participation in the peace process to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict if Moscow and Kiev do not reach an agreement.
He made the remark while answering questions from reporters before flying from Rome to Washington.
"We want to see results. And the first important result that we wanted to see and that we were happy about is that we wanted Russia and Ukraine to put a real peace proposal on the negotiating table," he said.
The vice president stressed that the peace talks are "at a bit of an impasse," but the United States is ready to be a partner in bringing peace.
"We're going to try to finish it, but if we can't finish it, eventually we're going to say, 'You know what? It was worth a try, but we're not going to do it anymore,'" Vance said.
