China warns: US tariffs could cause humanitarian crisis

China warned yesterday that United States tariffs could trigger a "humanitarian crisis" as the world's two largest economies continue to go head-to-head in US President Donald Trump's trade war.
"The United States' reciprocal tariffs will cause great damage to developing countries, especially least developed countries, and even cause a humanitarian crisis," Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said during a video call with the director-general of the World Trade Organization.
In a ministry statement today, Wang said Trump's tariffs " have brought great uncertainty and instability to the world."
