WhatsApp again with innovations, new options for audio and video calls

WhatsApp is constantly testing new features through its beta channels and it usually takes a few months for them to reach all users.

Now this app has received more innovations at the same time. Status indicators have been displayed in group conversations, so the user can see which members are available right below the group name. Also, users can now choose to receive only highlights from groups, which limits notifications.

The ability to scan and send documents directly through WhatsApp for iOS has also been introduced. WhatsApp on iOS can be set as the default app for sending messages and making calls, you need to select Settings – Default – WhatsApp and that's it. Video calls are now better quality and more reliable and it is also possible to quickly switch to HD quality if the internet speed is satisfactory.

WhatsApp has started testing new audio and video calling options for Android users, and a feature that will further improve privacy is in the works. The first feature is a “mute” button that will allow users to answer a call with the microphone turned off. There is speculation that the feature could be useful in noisy environments. The second feature is related to video calls that allows the user to turn off the camera before answering the call.

WhatsApp has issued a serious warning; a vulnerability has been discovered in their platform that can be exploited by hackers. According to the information, malware spreads through images and files that seem harmless and opening them can cause major problems for users.

What is essential to note is that this vulnerability was not found in the mobile applications for Android and iPhone, but only in the PC application. So, everyone who uses WhatsApp for Windows is at risk. Although Meta has warned about this problem, it is not known whether there have been any concrete abuses.
