Nuclear bombs are being dropped, Britain will buy 12 American aircraft

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce at the NATO summit in The Hague the purchase of 12 F-35A fighter jets, capable of delivering nuclear bombs.
This move constitutes Britain's largest reinforcement and returns the Royal Air Force to an important role in the country's nuclear defense.
The F-35A is an advanced variant of the F-35B aircraft that Britain currently uses and will be based at RAF Marham.
Each aircraft costs around £100 million and is expected to be operational within the next year or two. Unlike the F-35B, the A variant has a greater capacity and longer range, making it suitable for nuclear missions. The bombs it will carry will be American-made.
The move places Britain as part of NATO's nuclear air mission for the first time since the Cold War. Until now, the UK's nuclear capability has relied exclusively on the Royal Navy's submarines, which are also in the process of being modernised with the construction of four new ones.
The British government has planned to purchase up to 138 F-35 aircraft in the coming years, a program that is expected to support over 20,000 jobs and more than 100 businesses in the United Kingdom.
British companies such as BAE Systems, Cobham and Rolls-Royce will play a role in their construction, although the bulk will be manufactured in the US by Lockheed Martin.
