G7 leaders gather in France, focus on US-Iran deal

Leaders of the G7 countries will gather today in the French resort town of Evian-les-Bains, where they are expected to discuss the framework agreement reached between the United States and Iran, along with a number of other issues of international importance, the BBC reported.
Although the agreement is expected to be officially signed on Friday, G7 leaders are likely to ask US President Donald Trump for more details on its content, with particular attention to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that the leaders will also discuss support for Lebanon as part of the new agreement.
The informal G7 group consists of the US, Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.
The European Union will also participate in the summit, although it is not considered part of the seven main members, as it represents a bloc of states and not a single country.
Also on the agenda for this year's summit are support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, as well as the developments and growing influence of artificial intelligence.
